Where can transfers be conducted?

All transfers occur at CAD’s physical location or at a Pennsylvania gun show, no exceptions. Items that do not require a background check may be shipped to you or retrieved by you – federal, state, and local laws permitting – at your convenience.

What if I am denied?

Our policy in the event of a PICS Denial is to furnish a copy of the PICS Challenge Form and hold your firearm, if you like, for 30 days without charge. After expiration of this 30-day grace period, if you have not retrieved your firearms or instructed us to return them to a seller, you will be subject to our Storage policies.

What if I am running late?

If you are running late for an appointment, just let us know! There’s no penalty for running a few minutes late. However, we allot time to meet with each customer, one-on-one, so a late start to your appointment could impact other customers. At the time allotted for the next customer, that customer takes priority. And if you are more than 30 minutes late without notifying us, there will be a $20 surcharge added to your transaction, and further transfer requests may be denied at our discretion. If you don’t show up at all and don’t notify us, you will additionally be subject to our Storage policies, including CAD assuming ownership of your abandoned property.

How long does this take?

We have no control over shipping time or other dealers, but once we receive a firearm, we will inspect and notify you typically within 24 hours. Appointments for pickup are flexible to accommodate your schedule, and can be made any day of the week so you don’t have to wait! The length of the appointment will vary depending on your needs, such as if you require a Pre-PICS Assessment.

Online Transfers

Purchasing online with another dealer and using CAD as your destination FFL for pickup

What does it cost?

Our goal is to provide low-fee FFL services to those who hate spending money on red tape. Any purchase you make that requires shipment to an FFL will cost you $25 for the first gun or device and only $10 for each additional item in the same transaction.

How do you give CAD’s information to the seller?

Our information will already be on file with many of the large online dealers. Simply select Capital Arms Depot as your destination FFL at checkout and the rest is taken care of. If you do not see us listed as an FFL on the dealer’s website, you can share our FFL license with the dealer to answer all of their questions.

Who can use this service?

Anyone! All we ask is that you let us know an item is coming. Send us a message or call to let us know you have listed us as your destination FFL for some item, and we’ll call you once it’s in to schedule an appointment for your transfer. You will fill out ATF Form 4473 and make your payment to us at that appointment.

Person-to-Person Transfers

What does it cost?

Just like online transfers, we charge $25 for the first gun or device and only $10 for each additional item in the same transaction. Handguns, long guns, whatever you buy, the fee is the fee.

Do both parties to the transfer need to be present at the same time?

It’s preferred that you come to CAD together, but it’s not necessary! If a convenient date and time cannot be arranged with both parties, we can hold the gun(s) to be transferred pursuant to the terms of our Storage policies.

Who can use this service?

Anyone! Send us a message or call and share contact information for both the transferor (person selling/giving away the firearm) and the transferee (person buying/receiving the firearm), and we will make arrangements with both. You will fill out paperwork and make your payment to us at that appointment.
